Planning in for Football Pavilion

Fig_01 - Early sketch visual

Great news!  We have recently submitted the planning application for a new park pavilion at Derby Racecourse.

The new pavilion provides facilities for grassroots football development, educational opportunities for schools and colleges, and a much needed drop-in café and welfare provision for the park.  The new development includes the 3 fold expansion of the AGP provision and significant car park improvements.

Designed to enhance accessibility and opportunity for all, and deliver a sustainable solution, the new facility includes secure bike storage, improved accessible parking, step and ramp free approach and internal environment, entrance visibility, considered hard and soft landscaping, electric car charging and SUDs drainage solutions.

Working with the local planning authority from the inception of the project several potentially contentious site constraints and concerns were dealt with at an early stage assisting in avoiding delay during the determination process.  The site, a former firing range, within the vicinity of an ancient monument and on an historically significant ancient trading route presented a number of planning validation challenges all considered and dealt with before planning submission.

The hard work of the design and development team including Alliance Leisure, Universal Group, CGP, Abacus Cost Management, Derby City Council, Football Foundation and Leisure United has generated a facility that adds value and opportunity to the park and presents a simple, sensitive design solution that considers both the practical needs of a park pavilion alongside the sensitivities of an historic park environment. Project delivered under the UK Leisure Framework.
